Sadie Tanner Alexander

January 2, 1898 – November 1, 1989

The first black woman student to graduate with a law degree from Penn Law School, and the first African-American woman to practice law in Pennsylvania. The Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander University of Pennsylvania Partnership School ("Penn Alexander") in West Philly is named after her.
